Always Rushing

Seems like I can't get out of town without a big rush to get everything done at the last minute. Packing, cleaning, laundry, more packing.... Dudley goes to Kevin's and Dutch goes to the kennel... The house feels kinda empty tonight. But I'm looking forward to at least a little sunshine in California, some mountain biking. And of course seeing Chris and Erin, Carla, Steve and Jeff, Alan, Wolf, Dusty....

Buy a Gas Guzzler!

The news just reported on a tax loophole, intended for small businesses and farmers, is allowing rich people buying $50-70,000 SUVs to take a huge tax break. It's the high gross vehicle weight that puts only the largest SUVs into the tax break category. Buy a $71,000 hummer and get a $20,000 tax break. That's more in taxes that won't go to the government than I PAID in taxes in the last 3 years combined. It seems to be a free-for-all for the rich these days. Every day I wake up wondering what kind of Orwell/Kafka/David Lynch world I've stumbled into. Up is down, wrong is right, unethical is ethical...

Happy New Year!

Howdy, and welcome to my spot on the big web known as The Internet. I've decided to add my hat to the giant ring of Blogs and see what happens.
I'd like to start the whole blog off with a link, of course. It's to one of the most refreshing sites I've come across in a long time, thanks to the great people at boingboing.net. It's called "Real Live Preacher" and it's the anonymous writings of an actual preacher that can make even those who are completely jaded with any 'religious' writing feel a glimmer of hope. This should be required reading for anyone in a position of ministering to others. Check it out at http://blogs.salon.com/0001772/ The latest entry "Cosmic Doughnut" really blew my mind (sorry about the cliche').
