SubaruSTI WRC.jpg
Years ago, I went through a luxury-car phase. Maybe I've started my "middle-life crisis" of sorts because the last 5yrs or so, I really prefer the "boy racer" cars. FUN to drive and good on gas. This iteration is an extreme race version of the Subaru STI. Done-up in full rallye modifications and know world-wide for it's racing prowess on back roads.

The summit of Mt Skinner...ok, remember "mountains" on the East Coast are much less spectacular in height than here in the West!

I tried and tried with this pic to position the camera just perfect. Still managed to cut my head-off! This is the partial view westward toward Northhampton from the summit.

NYC Car Show

First off, I haven't been updating this page very often anymore. Most likely, I will close this page and go to the more popular and less technical "Live Journal" soon. Seems to be the "thee place" to be on the internet as far as keeping in-touch with others. This page has become too cumbersome to maintain also. I just don't have the time nor patience to learn every detail of proficiently using this blog's formatting.

I recently used-up some frequent flyer miles and visited NYC and the big car show at the Javitz Center. Somehow, I managed to choose the worst day weather-wise, and had originally planned to stay until later in the evening and take-in more of the sites (and eat till I puke!) at places I haven't been able to make it to on previous trips! The show was great, but more crowded than I figured. Glad I got an early start on my train trip out of CT to Grand Central Station. After 5 hrs of walking and running "interference" with the crowds...(sorry, I hate small kids at car-shows taking-up space and playing in the cars. This is adult play-time folks! Keep your kids at the playground and get a babysitter!) I decided to grab the next Metro North train back to CT. I did make a pilgrammage to a cigar shop in Chelsea owned by some Puerto Rican's. It's still nice to find shops like this. Old,and not-so-friendly, but superior quality at a popular price. I'm no longer willing to pay stupid prices, just because the trendy-few have made cigar prices outrageous in most city areas.

The pizza-place I stopped at, "Gourmet Pizza" I think was the name, a non-descript place. The pie was super-thin(the way it should be!) and for $2 bucks it hit the spot for my wet-and-windy trek back to Times Square and Grand Central. I had planned to hop a bus back, but after waiting, decided to hoof-it. The traffic was so bad due to a hwy closure around Manhattan Island, that I could walk faster! The bus passed me up the street as I walked, but later got stuck. Still an enjoyable trip, but "easy to get around" was not the word that particular day in NYC!

Part of my trip I visited and stayed with the Reilly's in CT, and Matt and Ellen up in MA. Rural Massachusettes in one place I feel I could easily live year-round. I found all the people friendly and interesting. I stopped for ice-cream one day at a local family owned market. An elderly lady, looking at my rental car's CT license plate in the parking lot stopped me and said, "honey, how much ya paying for a gallon in Connecticut?"...her local Yankee accent being very pronounce. It's this type of friendly and casual contact I mourn living in the city. Even in Seattle, I find many offish and tuned-out.
